Leadership Days
We believe that leaders can accelerate their own growth and performance when given the opportunity to share their experiences with others in a trusted, mutually-supportive environment. Every year, Staircase Ventures hosts a two-day off-site for the leaderships teams of its portfolio companies. This is a special time for the teams to learn from each other, as they share approaches and strategies that are working well for them, and get feedback on the challenges they are facing. In addition, guest speakers such as Dan Park, CEO of Clutch, and Noura Sakkkijha, founder & CEO of Mejuri, share their journeys and lessons learnt along the way.
Founder/Investor Events
Our investors are successful business leaders and trailblazers with diverse experiences and networks. They enjoy getting to know our portfolio company founders on a personal basis, learning more about their businesses, and providing assistance where appropriate. Both our portfolio companies and our investors benefit from this collaboration. Staircase Ventures hosts events such as Founder/Investor Cocktails to foster these relationships. There is always lots of energy, learning, laughs, and people walk away with new insights and friendships.
Founder Dinners
We believe that founders can learn a tremendous amount, grow as leaders, and build their emotional resiliency by connecting with other founders who are going through similar things and who are genuinely rooting for their success. This is one reason that Staircase Ventures shares its carry (profits) with all its portfolio founders: so all founders are motivated to support and celebrate one another. Staircase Ventures hosts regular dinners with its founders to discuss specific topics such as go-to-market, building with AI, and operational excellence. The founders build special relationships that extend beyond the dinners, and they support each other on a regular basis with specialized expertise and introductions.
Investor Golf Day
We believe that outstanding returns are only one advantage of being an investor in Staircase Ventures. Being part of the Staircase community, with access to founders, co-investment opportunities, thought leadership, and other investors, is also important to our investors. One component of this is our annual investor golf day at one of Canada’s premier private golf clubs. It is a chance for our investors to get to know each other and engage in thoughtful conversation over a round of golf and dinner.
Annual General Meeting
Staircase Ventures’ Annual General Meeting gives our investors a chance to better understand the performance of each portfolio company and the Fund. It is also a time of shared thought-leadership, insight, and inspiration. Our General Partner, founders, and advisors have presented in the past, highlighting business updates and market insights. In addition, our most recent AGM featured guest speaker Lisa Bentley, 11-time Ironman Champion, who spoke about the mindset of a champion.
